Button-Look greater than 90 degrees? [done]
Nick.
S2 licensed
When you press your button to look left or right then press the other button, you can only see up to 90 degrees left or right. Why not increase the amount to say, 135 degrees? If you're merging into a race (or cruise), and you're not perfectly perpendicular, you end up look to the wall on the other side of the track. Rear view is equally as annoying since you look back toward the wall on your side of the track.

Perhaps there should be another setting; two-button look that can be adjusted from 90 to 135 degrees. It' be very useful.

Quote from Dazmyster :Looks good, i think this could be a seperate oval for us OVAL ADDICTS ( Bangers? ) or add it into another track !

thanks daz

+1 for the oval as a seperate entity. Shouldn't take too much work and there'd be no need to add barriers all the way round, just check out some of the smaller ovals in the US.

1) LMP closed cockpit cars
2) Nascar type racer, (to suit the Rockingham oval)
3) Something to equal the Scirocco
4) RB4 GTR
5) Saloon to compete equally with the XF GTI (fwd to add variety to the lower classes of racing)

I'd be up for this idea, although still being a demo racer until the new year,(I've had to wait for a chance to have a permanent area I can set the wheel up and have reliable broadband to race regularly,) I haven't really experienced everything LFS currently has to offer so the temperature adjustments would just be an extra thing for me to learn rather than a new addition I could enjoy getting to grips with.

I think that interchangable parts would be too complicated to incorporate into the sim now, (even if you do ignore the aforementioned "copy the best setup" route that everyone will eventually take). However, you seem genuinely passionate about this idea Vortes, so why not have a go at producing your own simulator with interchangeable parts incorporated from the outset? It won't be easy and you'd need to be very dedicated, but you'd only need to produce a couple of cars for a start and one or two tracks to test the idea. Heck, if you do go for it then I'd be willing to be an alpha tester for you once you got that far.

Will there still be an option to not have limited setups? Or will it be limited all the time?

Kansas is far away from Jersey :P I'm all for the nationalism thing though.

Looking good. I can't wait for this. It's the only real racetrack I've ever driven on and I've been there as a spectator so many times. Hopefully it'll make it for next season. I just hope it appears on lots of the scheduless. With the indy and GP tracks it should suit most classes.

Quote from Kada_CZ :Hi all, please try GI version for Z25. gi_nick.zip is Nick's modified version, gi.zip is the original.

I did not response earlier because the forum software did not notify me about new post by email as usual (I don't know why...).

EDIT: In case of problems with the gi.zip version, try to add line
Use_InSim 0

to your config.txt.

Excellent stuff Kada! I almost PM'd you about it actually because I'm not sure when I'd have been able to do it. I don't have my GI set up at the moment but will post back when I've tested it. Thanks again for taking the time to do this

I like the idea of having another view on a second monitor, no matter what it's looking at. +1 for me

Quote from Nick. :Hey, do you think you could make a Volkswagen VR6 sound for the XFG? I've been trying but I just can't get it. I don't know if you have one yet either, but it'd be great if you do

I haven't tested it yet but I believe the software will no longer work with Z25 onwards. If I have time I will try to fix it but I haven't done any programming since I made the rev-light version of GI from Kada's original so it might be some time (maybe a few weeks). As soon as there's any news I'll post back

Turning Off Replay Chat

While viewing a replay, is there a way to turn off the chat from an online session? The normal - and shift+- don't work for replays for some reason.

Just follow what is in Kada's original readme.txt:

LFS configuration
-----------------
GI expects, that LFS is configured to report "Dashboard Packets".
Change the following in cfg.txt file (it is in the LFS directory).

OutGauge Mode 1 :0-off 1-driving 2-driving+replay
OutGauge Delay 10 :minimum delay between packets (100ths of a sec)
OutGauge IP 127.0.0.1 :IP address to send the UDP packet
OutGauge Port 11111 :IP port

(the full description is in <LFS dir>/doc/InSim.txt)

Run GI.exe before LFS on the computer with OutSim IP.
127.0.0.1 is the computer, that is running LFS.

Great work! Thankfully you didn't realise it was me in the no. 9 kart who wedged it into the tyres at the hairpin!

What happened with the winning team on the podium? Were we so ugly we needed to be faded out? :Eyecrazy:

I'll upload the full set later (probably tomorrow) incase anyone wants to have a look though but there are about 300 so it'll take a while.
